- The Installer program is intended to lead you
- step-by-step through the installation process.
- \
- Each step is on a different "page"; the Go back
- and Continue buttons move between pages, so you
- may change any choices you make before actually
- installing ArtWorks.
- \
- The Help button gives an explanation of whatever
- the current page is for.

- Click Continue to leave this page.

-
- The floppy option is designed to minimise disc
- swapping, and to create a version of ArtWorks
- specifically for floppy drive systems.
- \
- However, this release only just fits an 800K disc;
- future versions cannot be guaranteed to do so.
- \
- A hard disc will greatly increase the ease-of-use
- not just of ArtWorks but any other software you use.
- [22030605] ***********************************************
- [80806D80]
- [FF094105]
- \
- Please insert a blank disc (formatted 800K min.)
- in drive 0.
- \
- Quitting any unnecessary applications now will speed
- up the installation process.
- \
- To prevent incomplete installation, the page buttons
- will be disabled once the Install button is pressed.
- \
- Press the Install button to begin. (If you really
- have to abort installation, press the Escape key.)
- [22050605]
- [80808080]
- [FF080106]
-
- To format a disc, menu over the appropriate floppy
- icon on the icon bar, and select the Format option.
-
- To minimise disc swapping, the Installer will try
- to use as much free memory as it can.
-
- Owners with more than one floppy drive may run
- the Installer from any drive, but ArtWorks will
- always be installed onto floppy drive 0.

- ArtWorks can be installed to any filing system.
- Dragging the icon to a filer window tells the
- Installer where you would like ArtWorks to live.
-
- If you have an existing copy of ArtWorks, only
- those parts that need renewing will be touched.
-
- This means that choices you may have saved from
- an older copy of ArtWorks will not be affected
- when a newer version is released.

- \
- If you don't have a !System folder, dragging the icon

- [FF0B010A]
- \
- A !System folder holds resources that are used by
- many different applications. For example, the ABI
- module is used by ArtWorks, FlipTop and FontInst.
- \
- By keeping these resources in the !System folder,
- applications can be sure of using the newest
- version.
- \
- The Installer checks that any modules that ArtWorks
- needs are up-to-date, updating them if necessary.

- [80808080]
- [FF0A010C]
- \
- Stopping the installation process half-way through
- could generate a half-installed copy of ArtWorks.
-
- Since this would be about as much use as a chocolate
- teapot, the Installer tries very hard to avoid the
- situation arising.
-
- However, in the event of an unexpected error occurring,
- the Installer will return control, giving you the
- opportunity to remedy the situation.
